Full-Time | Salaried

Lead the daily operations of Ascentia House while creating a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for children and youth. The Residential Care Manager oversees residential staff, ensures high-quality care, maintains regulatory compliance, and works collaboratively with families, placing agencies, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and support the residential care team.

• Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, and on-call coverage.

• Ensure individualized Plans of Care are implemented.

• Promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and child-centred care.

• Maintain compliance with CYFSA, MCCSS licensing standards, and organizational policies.

• Coordinate with families, schools, healthcare providers, and community agencies.

• Support staff training, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Social Services, or a related field.

• At least five years of residential child and youth care experience.

• At least three years of supervisory or management experience.

• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, CYFSA, and MCCSS requirements.

• Valid Ontario driver’s licence.

• Current First Aid and CPR certification.

• Current Vulnerable Sector Check.

Schedule

Primarily Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rotation and occasional evening, weekend, or holiday availability.

Full-Time, Part-Time and Casual Positions

Provide compassionate, therapeutic care to children and youth in a residential setting. Child and Youth Workers help create a safe, nurturing environment while supporting residents’ emotional, behavioural, educational, cultural, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

• Build positive and therapeutic relationships with children and youth.

• Provide daily care, supervision, and emotional support.

• Implement individualized Plans of Care.

• Support education, life skills, recreation, appointments, and community participation.

• Use trauma-informed and positive behaviour-support strategies.

• Respond appropriately to emotional or behavioural crises.

• Administer medication as authorized and complete required documentation.

• Collaborate with families, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.

• Experience working with children or youth is preferred.

• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, behaviour support, and crisis intervention.

• Valid Ontario driver’s licence.

• Current First Aid and CPR certification.

• Current Vulnerable Sector Check.

• CPI, UMAB, or equivalent training is an asset.

Schedule

Rotating day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts are available.

Casual / Relief | On-Call

Join our relief team and provide direct care during staff absences, vacations, training periods, and vacancies. Relief Child and Youth Workers help maintain a safe, consistent, and therapeutic environment while supporting each resident’s individualized Plan of Care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, supervision, and emotional support.

• Assist with personal care, meals, household routines, and recreational activities.

• Support school attendance, homework, appointments, and community outings.

• Encourage independence, life skills, and positive social interactions.

• Use approved trauma-informed, de-escalation, and behaviour-support techniques.

• Administer medication as authorized.

• Complete safety checks, shift notes, medication records, and incident reports.

• Work collaboratively with the residential team to maintain continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

• Experience supporting children and youth is preferred.

• Strong communication, teamwork, and crisis-response skills.

• Ability to accept shifts based on operational needs.

• Valid Ontario driver’s licence.

• Current First Aid and CPR certification.

• Current Vulnerable Sector Check.
